Headache Medication vs. Upper Cervical

Headaches, Migraines, MedicationAdvil, Aspirin, and Upper Cervical

Just when you think that Advil, Aspirin, or other medication is helping you to find relief from your headaches, you find out that all it’s doing is masking your symptoms. What’s even worse is that not only is it only masking your symptoms, but it’s also allowing the underlying problem to worsen.

Luckily, there is a specific form of chiropractic, called upper cervical chiropractic, that focuses on getting to the source of the problem rather than just covering the symptoms. The results of this type of chiropractic are so good that it has led to the improvement of elimination of headaches in 1,000 patients from the Palmer Research Clinic, which is a chiropractic research clinic.

A Headache Study

“Based on Literature Review of Several Headache Treatment Options, a Panel of 19 Multidisciplinary Experts Concluded That Spinal adjustments resulted in almost immediate improvement for cervicogenic headaches and had significantly fewer side effects and longer lasting relief of tension type headache than a commonly prescribed medication.” [McCrory DC, et al. “Evidence Report: Behavioral and Physical Treatments for Tension type and Cervicogenic Headache.” Duke University Evidence-Based Practice Center, Durham, North Carolina, January 2001.]

Another Headache Study

Dr. Erin Elster conducted another study of 101 headache sufferers, in which 30 days before their care the sum total of headaches they suffered was 1407. That’s about 14 headaches per person per month. Each of them sought upper cervical chiropractic from Dr. Elster, and the 30 days following the conclusion of their care there were only 111 headaches among all 101 patients. That’s about one headache per person per month.

Now, that’s a 92% reduction in headaches, which means there’s a much higher chance that you’ll find the headache relief you need in the office of an upper cervical chiropractor than you will in another bottle of pills.

Of course, we understand that it’s easy to get busy with your day to day routine and want that relief right away, and sometimes people who suffer from migraines find relief after only their first visit. But even if it takes more than just the first visit, that lasting relief that comes from allowing an upper cervical chiropractor to adjust the top two vertebrae in your neck. This will relieve any pressure on the brainstem, eliminate any nerve damage, and restore the brain’s ability to communicate with the body.
