There is increasing evidence, according to recent research by the Blair Upper Cervical Chiropractic Group that head and neck trauma can cause migraine headaches and vertigo. It was yet more research conducted using an MRI that showed the amount of problems a misalignment in the upper neck vertebrae can cause.
In the report, it was state that:
“A 54 year-old female patient entered the office with complaints of migraines 1-2 times per week and extreme chronic neck pain and vertigo for the past 10 years. She was injured in a motor vehicle accident ten years prior to her first visit in our office. The patient was seen 19 times over a period of 12 weeks. She received 3 upper cervical corrections during this time. The patient reported having 1 migraine 2 weeks after the first correction. Since that time, she has reported no migraine episodes, neck pain or vertigo.”
Upright MRI and the Upper Neck
Using the upright MRI, Dr. Raymond Damadian , the inventor of the MRI from New York demonstrated that a misalignment in the upper cervical spine, which are the top two bones in a person’s vertebrae, alter the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to, from, and through the brain. That fluid is crucial in lubrication a person’s brain and spinal cord, which means the improper flow of that fluid can lead to all sorts of complications.
When a person’s upper neck vertebrae becomes misaligned, it causes a backup in the flow of CSF fluid and causes intracranial pressure. The only way to find relief from that pressure is that allow upper cervical chiropractor to examine your upper cervical spine for any misalignments that may be the underlying cause of that back up in your CSF fluid. This will, according to studies, allow normalize the pressure by decreasing it as much as 28.6%. The results for the patient are relief from various conditions including migraines and more.
